RYLA 2026

In August two young people from the local area were sponsored by Barnard Castle Rotary Club to attend Rotary Youth Leadership award which is an intensive leadership training program for young people to help participants build communication, problem-solving, and team-management skills. They spent 5 days at an outdoor residential camp (Wilderness Outdoor Education Centre) completing practical team challenges and outdoor tasks. This included solving challenges such as safely transporting Polio vaccine and relocating a shelterbox. They learned about the wider aims of Rotary to offer support at a local, national and international level. The participants then presented a summary of their experience to the club and will attend a celebration dinner in Gateshead.
