Charter night

Charter Night is the highlight of a Rotary Club's social calendar and is, in effect, a birthday celebration of another successful year since the club's formation, or Charter.

Our club was chartered on the 16th February 1940, the same month as another 22 Rotary Clubs across the world and our first Charter lunch was held on the 23rd April 1940 with the 26 founding members being joined by 40 Rotarians from 16 other Rotary Clubs. Their 3-course meal at the Marden Café, Horsemarket cost 3/-. This year, our Charter event cost a little more!

On Friday, Barnard Castle Rotarians were joined at the Headlam Hall Country Hotel by guests from several organisations to celebrate another successful year of community activities. Entertainment was provided by local group About the Humans and The Little Choir of Teesdale - a ladies a cappella choir.
