Rotary North east conference

Over the weekend, Colin and Hilary (from our satellite e-club) and Pauline and Michael (from our traditional club) attended the 94th Rotary North East Conference at the Hotel Rendezvous, Skipton. We joined delegates from across the District and shared good conversation, food and wine and the opportunity to hear five excellent inspirational key note speakers.

Andy Airey - one of the “3 Dad’s Walking” - spoke about the charity PAPYRUS UK and its work dedicated to the prevention of young suicide.

Amanda Watkin, General Secretary of Rotary GN&I, spoke on the topic of Rotary: planning for the future - before facilitating a discussion with delegates.

Catherine Johns, Executive Director of Dance City, gave a wide-ranging talk on strategies to improve our wellbeing.

Rotarian Garreth Murrell, who was recently part of a team that rowed 3000 miles across the Atlantic, spoke about the physical and mental issues challenges that entailed.

Finally, Yoga Teacher Gillian Dodd, got us moving with an interactive mental health wellbeing session.

On Saturday evening we were entertained by the marvellous Paula Marie with a repertoire of songs from the 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s.
